Split fromI also have the same problem. Windows 7/64, Broadcomm installed, Bose AE2w headphones, Insignia Bluetooth USB dongle. Broadcomm 'sees' the headphones. When I turn them on, the icon lights up on the Windows Explorer screen, when I turn them off, the icongoes 'grey'. When I try to 'connect', after a delay, I get the message 'Error connecting to headset.
Please retry this operation.' I've tried every combination of setup options, tried each and every 'services' choice in the hardware setup, installed theBose update - nothing works.Must be something to with this PC and Win 7/64 combination as the same headset and dongle work fine on my other computer, which is also Win7/64.Any further suggestions? If you are unable to pair other devices, you may have to update the Bluetooth driver to the latest by visiting computer Manufacturer website. Some of the userswere able to resolve the issue by updating the Bluetooth drivers.Bose AE2w Bluetooth pairing offline in Windows 8Also applies to Windows 7.I would suggest you to Uninstall and Reinstall Bluetooth Driver.Please follow the steps given here to uninstall and then reinstall the Bluetooth driver.a. Press Windows key + Rand type 'devmgmt.msc' and hit ENTER.b. Select Device Manager.c. Find and double-click Bluetooth driver from the left panel to uninstalld. Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.e. Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal.
